notes: these are completely self-indulgent robbcella musings because i’m trying to get back into writing!!!
She hated the summer.
It was ironic, because she was always the golden girl, sunshine, the jewel of the sweating city. But in reality, it stifled her. With each passing day, the sun made her eyes droop. Sleepily, she walked in a haze through her life, with blurs of too-bright yellows and pinks and purples, flowing curtains and conspiratorial whispers and sour wine.
In which Jon tries to scare off Sansa from posing naked for him and Sansa calls his bluff.
Stone and Snow, that was all that was left of Winterfell. Just like she and Jon.
STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters… S.T..R …
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.
Some don’t die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this…
A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Remember the ‘3’ steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :
S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg ‘It is sunny out today’).
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
NOTE : Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.
And it could be your own.
am i the only one who is pretty sure this is a water bending move?
I’m a firm believer that the best benders are those who look beyond their own element’s bending techniques and discover new ways of bending. Look at Toph, she bends completely differently from other earthbenders, and she’s one of the most powerful benders in the world. Look at Iroh, he devised lightning redirection from waterbending. This just shows that Zuko is a great firebender.
I think it probably has more to do with the way Zuko changed from the beginning to the end of the story. Each bending art is modeled after a martial art that closely mimics the element. Perhaps Zuko’s change in bending style is supposed to represent how his once fiery spirit had become more tranquil like a water bender’s.
this move directly copies the one Katara used on him in Siege of the North 2 when she pummeled him with a snowball. This scene here is after the Bitter Work episode where Iroh teaches Zuko how to redirect lightning using a Waterbending technique AND instructs him in the value of learning from the other nations. So the fact that here Zuko is using a water bending movie that his adversary used on him last season shows that he’s listening to his Uncle’s advice and hints at the beginning of his redemption arc. basically this 2 second clip is another example of why this show is brilliant and everyone should watch it.
This scene is SO important. Maleficent is with someone she trusts, someone she considers a friend. And then the next thing she knows, she wakes up in pain, bleeding, with her wings burned off. A huge part of her has been destroyed.
Rape is so prominent in our culture that it is in a Disney movie. Maybe not explicitly, but it is very clear what this scene represents and it is so sad.
I fucking cried my eyes out during this scene
AJ even confirmed that this is what this scene was a metaphor for (x) - just because i saw someone say today that this is not what this scene is about
'We were very conscious that it was a metaphor for rape': The actress explained how the scene in which her character has her wings ripped off her body while in a drug-induced sleep had to be something 'so violent and aggressive' that it would make her 'lose all sense of her maternity, her womanhood and her softness'
when a man violates a woman, he cuts off her wings.
when anyone violates anyone, they cut off the person’s wings
Getting real tired of the amount of emotional blackmailing I get from my own dad. It’s exhausting and it bothers me but eh what else is new.
Anon asked for colored versions a while ago, but I wanted to wait until the weekend.
(I do color them before I desaturate and add the sepia tone. Yes, the process is incredibly backwards, but hey, man. Check it out.)
GET TO KNOW ME MEME » [1/10] favorite female characters: Summer Finn (500 Days of Summer)
The girl, Summer Finn of Shinnecock, Michigan, did not share this belief. Since the disintegration of her parents’ marriage she’d only loved two things. The first was her long dark hair. The second was how easily she could cut it off and not feel a thing.
